Girls Only Road Trip
WEEK ONE

Karin's Mom drove out to California to see us since she hates to fly and has always wanted to see the country. She drove for five days to get here and spent almost three weeks with us. In two weeks, we had to get from San Diego to Northern Virginia and see what we wanted to see and HAVE FUN. We achieved our objectives and it was an AWESOME ADVENTURE!

In Week One, we traveled up the Coast of California mostly on Highway 1, which was GORGEOUS and then across the state on I-80. Going through Nevada on I-80 was the only boring and unappealing segment of our journey. Brown and Flat! Crossing into Utah on I-80 was a visual treat that just got better and better when we traveled South on I-215/I-15 and reached the ultimate beauty along the Provo Canyon and remained scenic along US-40. Colorado was Karin's favorite state because she lived there in her youth and because we were never on a major interstate. We traveled on US-40 and then some back roads through Cameron Pass and Gould and ended up in Fort Collins, then headed North on I-25 into Wyoming. Eventually we got off the interstate again and took a few back roads into the Black Hills of South Dakota. Sturgis, SD (near Deadwood) was our farthest North point in our journey. We got all the way across South Dakota to Sioux Falls by the end of Week One. Karin loved all the Western states (Nevada notwithstanding)!
